One of my all time favorite classic shows, Get Smart, is going to the theaters! Steve Carell plays Maxwell Smart and Anne Hathaway Agent 99. Hopefully, they don’t screw it up, because this has the potential to be really good.

It turns out that the Red Savina habenero chile pepper has been surpassed by the Indian Naga Jolokia, which peaks at about 970,000 Scoville units. The Red Savina peaked at about 580,000 Scovilles.
This is really spicy. To give you a sense of scale, the Thai pepper, which is already too spicy for most people, only attains about 100,000 Scovilles. The weak jalapeƱo pepper only hits 8000 Scovilles.
In honor of this pepper, Grant, the pepper guy, video taped himself taking a healthy bite of this insanely hot pepper. Sheer madness.
Tired of all those street magicians that claim that all the people in their YouTube videos are genuine strangers on the street? Here’s a really funny parody on that, and more. Starts a little slow, but gets really good.
This is a creative and poignant advertisement that’s been making the rounds on YouTube. I won’t spoil what they’re advertising about — trust me, this one is really very good. You won’t know it until it hits you in the end.
Apparently, the Japanese have now created a simulator that feels exactly like popping bubble wrap. This, my friends, is the epitome of human technology.
This Sprint commercial employs an awesome flashlight-painting stop motion animation. Basically, if the artist chose to do it the real way without CG, they used a flashlight to draw each frame of the stop motion animation during a long exposure shot. It had to have taken days to accomplish, and, I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of coordination that was necessary to pull it off. Also, the music is from the eclectic Australian band Architecture in Helsinki.

UPDATE: The following video is a behind the scenes look at how they made the commercial. It turns out they did do it the long and hard way, without any assistance from computers or lit wires. Truly amazing. Thanks rw for the pointer!

This is a video of the sad life of a Goomba in World 1-1. Simply waiting, and waiting, for their demise. Don’t trash them until you put yourself in their shoes.

More is a great short film created by Mark Osborne back in 1998, only to see Hollywood confused as to what to do with it. Then, five years later, he uploaded it to the internet and garnered a huge audience. It’s a great little 6 minute film that took a gigantic 6 months to create.
Oh, and it’s also the first stop motion film to use the IMAX format.
