Coldplay tells you to remember to buckle up. Imaginative, but not that hard to shoot, since he doesn’t appear to walk forwards, and there are multiple takes.

4. God Lives Underwater - From Your Mouth

Producing perfectly shaped foods from a mouth is amusing.

3. MuteMath - Typical

The band performs with wacky elements in reverse, done in one take.

2. Cibo Matto - Sugar Water

This is one of my favorite videos directed by Michel Gondry. The two women are shown in split screen, and both are running in the opposite polarity with respect to one another.

1. The Pharcyde - Drop

This one take masterpiece, filled with multiple complex elements and layers, is directed by Spike Jonze.

    How do they get have the videos going backward in time but singing the words forward in time for most of the video? That seems really tough…

    Nice selection of vids… I’m glad you have Sugar Water on there. Genius.

    Yeah, I’m sure it’s pretty tough to do, but I think that viewers are pretty forgiving as long as you get the lip movements somewhat right.

    I think making walking forward look natural in a reverse video is quite hard.

    YES! finally. i saw that god lives under water video back in hs really late at night and i never found it again. whenever i describe it to ppl, they think i’m crazy. “he produces a whole table of food from his MOUTH. its magic!” i was beginning to think i made it up. gracias.

    Where’s Def Leppard’s “Two Steps Behind”? LOL, maybe not as inventive, but backwards none the less… or Enigma’s “Return To Innocence”

    i think the codplay one should be a lot higher, chris martin learnt to move his mouth so that when reversed it look like he was singing forwards, a very weird concept lol so the whole thing was just filmed forwards and then reversed.

    Sean, that may be true, but all the other vids besides the God Lives Underwater video has the artist singing reversed as well.
