Google has done it once again. I knew this would happen. It’s the next logical choice: a desktop search.

*slaps head*

I’ve always hated window’s file find tool. It’s unbearably slow, and includes that stupid animated dog that seems to pop up every time I disable him. Kottke’s already all over it, and so is O’Reilly.

I can already think of a few ways to extend this tool. I can now theoretically make a web portal from my computer so that I can search and retrieve any file remotely. This is much more convenient than searching through a million folders, especially on a slow connection. I’m sure this is an easy hack.

    The cached aspect sold it for me. And it’s really, really fast which makes it even more desirable. Finally! I can find that obscure passage that I remember verbatim but, for the life of me, I just don’t remember what the damn filename was!
